Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav today resigned as Lok Sabha MP. Akhilesh Yadav has resigned from Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency while Azam Khan has resigned from Rampur Lok Sabha constituency. In the recent assembly elections, Akhilesh Yadav has been elected from Karhal constituency and Azam Khan from Rampur constituency. Therefore, he had to resign as an MP. (Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan Resign as an MP)

Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reached the Lok Sabha today. Here he met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and tendered his resignation. Akhilesh Yadav will now appear in the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. From national politics he will once again be active in state politics. Akhilesh Yadav will now be active in Uttar Pradesh politics as an MLA.

Following the resignation of Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan, the number of Samajwadi Party MPs has gone up from five to three. Once both the seats become vacant, re-election will be held in this constituency.

Akhilesh Yadav had reached his constituency on Monday before resigning as an MP. Here he interacted with his activists. 

Another SP leader, Azam Khan, also resigned. He, too, will now be active in state politics.
