The Padma Awards ceremony has begun. This year, the Padma Awards will be presented in two phases. Soshamma Ipe President Ram Nath Kovind from Kerala received the Padma Shri award today.
This year, the country is honoring 128 people with the Padma Awards. This time four people from Kerala are eligible for the award. Apart from Shoshamma IP, KP Rabia, Sankaranarayana Menon and P Narayana Kurup were also awarded the Padma Shri. Social activist KV Rabia and poet and critic P Narayana Kurup did not attend the award due to health issues. The award will be given next week to 64 people, including college pirate teacher Sankaranarayana Menon. The 128 winners will be awarded in two stages.
The Padma Vibhushan children received the posthumous award for the late Joint Chiefs of Staff Bipin Rawat. Geeta Trust Board Chairman Radhe Shyam Khemka was also posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan by her son.
