The accident took place in Odisha’s Khurda district on Saturday afternoon, injuring 22 people, including seven policemen. Five of them are said to be in critical condition. Meanwhile, an angry mob has beaten up an MLA after he was hit by a car. The MLA was critically injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment.

According to information received, some BJP supporters had gathered outside the group development officer’s office at Banapur in Khurda district for the election of the block president. At this time, the car of MLA Prashant Jagdev from Chilika hit the crowd. Within a few seconds, the car crushed 22 people.
The angry mob then attacked MLA Jagdev. He also vandalized his car. Considering the possibility of the case simmering, the police intervened in time and dispersed the crowd. The injured and MLA Jagdev were admitted to the hospital for treatment. SP Alekhchandra Padhi also informed that the police is investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Prashant Jagdev was expelled from Biju Janata Dal in October last year. Jagdev was also removed from the post of chairman of the district planning committee. But after this incident, politics in the state of Odisha is heating up. BJP state general secretary Prithviraj Harishchandra has demanded immediate arrest of MLA Jagdev.
